My
Story
Passionate About Inspiring Others
When I was a kid, I dreamed of travelling the world and writing for National Geographic - telling the stories and showing the pictures of all the beautiful people and places that I'd venture to. Story telling is an ancient practise that connects us with one another, that can inspire us and where we see not only our shared humanity but equally how we are inter-connected with all life on our planet.
By the time I was ready to leave school, I remember that I just wanted to help people. I started my working life by taking care of people in a hospital as a Diagnostic Radiographer - the one who takes medical x-rays. I witnessed life and death, struggle and joy, strength and compassion and not to be under-estimated, the resilience of the human heart. I saw it all - people from all walks of life. It is a gift to be able to to see with x-rays eyes, right into the heart of another, to diagnose what was truly happening, the cause of the dis-ease. I was touched deeply when I recognised a name; a fellow friend or someone I knew and it made me appreciate at a young age the impermanence of life.
My next dream was to move into the business world and I leveraged my technical expertise into a Sales role for a mutli-national company. With this came international travel - an opportunity to see the world through new eyes, meet diverse people and experience new cultures and see the beauty of far-away places. With a hunger for knowledge, I grew fast, soaking up every opportunity and completing my Masters degree in Business Administration, being one of the youngest people to do so at that time.
I had a dream to live abroad, but that didn't eventuate in the way I had intended and I found myself working for start up company in the Insurance industry. We were growing at a rapid rate that brought many challenges. With a clear vision, it was a fast-paced environment with an incredibly strong and dedicated team of people who dug deep to deliver. In a short time I had the responsibility for leading a team of 400 people and loved the new challenges it created. I learnt how to build a great culture, how to create a high energy and engaging environment for the team to prosper. I learnt how to juggle work and family life and I gained a lot of insight about myself as a person and as a leader. Leadership is definitely an inside job. Our success led us to being purchased by a major bank which came with a different culture and way of being. Change happens and before long, I realised my heart wasn't in it like before and I knew it was time to pass the baton and move on.
I didn't know what would be next. A friend suggested I take a few months off and do some new things. I took up painting and skiing to challenge myself to break through a limiting belief that I couldn't paint and that I couldn't ski. In that journey, I uncovered a hidden creative ability as an artist that is still a passion today. And as for the skiing, well I gave it a good go, but it's not really my thing. My 5 year old daughter ski'd faster and way more eloquently, actually passing me on the Kids Ski School's final run of the day and then had to wait a good 5 minutes for me to complete the beginners run!
Another friend gave me a book "The Anatomy of Spirit" by Caroline Myss. This opened up a whole new world and I decided to learn more and develop my spiritual self. I jumped on a plane and went to a 4 day Hay House 'I Can Do It' conference in Toronto. Here I heard many speakers and met Doreen Virtue and Sonia Choquette who both ran full day workshops for crowds of 3,000 and 1,000 people respectively. The experience was life-changing to say the least.
A fire was lit and I felt a renewed sense of passion to help people breakthrough limitation, to stand in their power, to be true to who they are, to speak their truth and most of all, to have heart and compassion. This is the essence of my work today to help people lead with heart and create their own destiny - from coaching, to mentoring, to facilitating events, leading tours to sacred sites, painting and writing blog posts and short stories.
I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that we have unlimited potential to create. We are the masters of our own destiny and we can create our preferred reality in any given moment. Just like you - I'm perfect, an acronym for 'imperfect'. If we love our imperfections, they become one of our greatest teachers; an asset to transform us into out true potential. What limits us is us. The only person who can change your life is you. I believe the heart is our guiding light and our pathway forward so I made it prominent in my logo as a reminder to me, to us all.
Much love

What People Say
"I have been fortunate to work with Jo in both a personal coaching and facilitation capacity. Jo has played a critical role in my career journey and I believe I’m a confident authentic leader as a result of her contribution to my leadership growth. Her passion to install executives with a greater level of confidence continues to manifest in some amazing outcomes. I have valued Jo’s deep and present listening skills, as often as a CEO it is difficult to discuss situations within the realm of the business. She has pushed me to lean into situations outside my comfort zone enabling me to be the best version of myself by making good choices. Without a doubt I would not have achieved my current role without her continued belief, guidance and valuable coaching advice." CEO - Auckland
